Helping Solve the Mystery of Autism

One Child at a Time

The Coral Gables News-Tribune honored my work at The Carrie Brazer Center for Autism & Related Disabilities in 2007 because I developed new behavioral and educational methods which enabled children with autism to learn communication skills and achieve independence.

Through my work I established organized systems which united therapy with life skills and academic learning to support more than 250 students and adults in developing communication abilities and independence that specialists had deemed unattainable.

The program established itself as one of the first private educational models in South Florida which merged speech-generating technology with life-transition training for autism students while creating an inclusive learning environment.

The program focused on teaching children while simultaneously working to give them the power to succeed. The children we worked with demonstrated our progress in autism understanding through their individual achievements.
